Class Details

You asked for a class about turning points.  How about a class dedicated to the DEFINING moments in a story, including the inciting incident, turning points, black moment/realization, and the protagonist's first decision.

NOTE: This class is limited to 65 students!.

Someone once said that the character arc is about characters finding their greatness.  In real life, the moments that truly define us are those moments when we are able to overcome our limitations and rise to something more.  You know where I’m going with this—to those key scenes that embody major change in the story and character arc:

  • The Inciting Incident
  • The Turning Points
  • The Black Moment
  • Realization
  • And the Protagonist’s First Decision

These are the Moments that Truly Define your story.  In this class we will:

  • Look at each of these significant scenes and what they need to accomplish
  • Use premise to structure your story through turning points
  • Use turning points and their mini-epiphanies to compel the protagonist into escalating, motivated action
  • Discover and use the three set-up scenes for turning points
  • Create a visceral connection of plot to subplot
  • Learn two Story Vision templates

This class is limited to 65 students.

*Note about the brainstorming: Each writer’s story and personal writing approach is different in complexity and vision, and so the nature of each individual brainstorming pattern and completion is different. Contact Laura with any questions about the process: LBaker10@aol.com
